Eric Ashton - Principal

I’m proud to be entering my 25th year with Forsyth County Schools and my 19th year as principal of Daves Creek Elementary. With 20 years of experience as a principal and a background that spans all levels of education—including time at the college level—I bring a well-rounded K–12 perspective to our school community.

My wife, Caroline, and I have three wonderful children. Our son Logan recently earned his MBA and is now working in San Francisco. Our daughter Marissa is a junior at San Jose State University, and our youngest daughter, Shay, is a 9th grader at Buford High School.

I’m excited for another amazing year at Daves Creek and look forward to continuing to support our students, staff, and families!

Courtney McKinney- Principal 

2026-2027 School Year

My name is Courtney McKinney, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Daves Creek Elementary.  I am truly thrilled to support out students, staff, and community at this wonderful school. 

I have had the joy of teaching kindergarten through fifth grade, and I cherished each experience.  I am also a proud mom of two grown sons, Will and Trent, who are graduates of Forsyth County Schools.  

In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, relaxing at the beach, and attending sporting events.  These moments keep me grounded and energized for the work I love.

Leslie Storm - Assistant Principal

I am honored to serve the Daves Creek family as Assistant Principal! Forsyth County Schools has been my home for many years and is where I have taught at both the elementary and middle school levels. I have also contributed as an Assistant Administrator and an Instructional Coach. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Middle Grades, a Master’s degree in Early Childhood, a Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. My husband and I have a daughter, Summer, and our family would not be complete without the love of our Golden Retriever, Lettie. I’m excited to continue growing and leading alongside the incredible Daves Creek team!

Lauren Parsell - Assistant Administrator

I am thrilled to serve the Daves Creek Elementary community as an Assistant Administrator. Daves Creek has been my home since 2015, and I am honored to continue growing and serving this incredible community.

In my time at Daves Creek, I have had the privilege of working as a second-grade teacher and most recently as the Early Intervention Program (EIP) Specialist. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Kindergarten and Elementary Education with a minor in Deafness and Hearing Studies from Penn State University. We Are! Additionally, I earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Georgia and hold a Tier 1 Leadership certification from the University of Georgia. Go Dawgs! I also hold a Science and Reading Endorsement. 

My husband and I are proud parents to two energetic boys, Everett and Brock, who bring endless joy and excitement to our lives.

I am excited to support the Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, and Connect teams this year as their administrator. I look forward to a year filled with growth, collaboration, and success for our students and staff.

Eileen Barbieri - Assistant Administrator

It’s a privilege to support the students, staff, and families of the Daves Creek community as an Assistant Administrator! For the past 19 years, I’ve been proud to call DCE home, working in a variety of roles. I had the pleasure of working as a homeroom teacher and have also enjoyed teaching gifted students, as well as supporting students in both advanced and EIP math classes. Each role has deepened my connection to our school and strengthened my commitment to our shared success.

I graduated with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, earned my Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont University, and recently earned a Tier 1 Education Leadership Certificate from the University of West Georgia. In addition, I also hold both Gifted and Math Endorsements.

When I am not at DCE, I enjoy spending time with my family.  My husband Michael and I have been married for 32 years and we have three wonderful children, Michael, Victoria, and Mikaela. We also have the cutest dogs- Winston and Ginger!

I am honored to support our students, staff, and families in my role as an administrator and look forward to a school year of continued growth, meaningful collaboration, and positive experiences for our entire school community.
